Villarreal – PSG: Preview

We provide predictions for the Villarreal vs PSG encounter in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage for the 2026/27 season. PSG could secure its tenth consecutive win, while Villarreal will aim to create a surprise.

Key Points

Villarreal

1. Villarreal remains unstable
On 24 October they beat the problematic Valencia, and three days later crushed Manacor from the fifth tier in the Copa del Rey. The level of opponents does not allow us to talk about progress, but Villarreal has only won two consecutive matches on the second occasion of the season. There have been no three‑game winning streaks since last year, and on Friday the team missed the chance to correct that when the match with Espanyol ended in a narrow defeat. With only 12 points in 11 games, Villarreal remains miraculously in the top ten. But the table is so tight that relegation is two points away.
In the Champions League, Villarreal has one win and two losses. They lost in a tight fight against Dortmund’s Bursaspor and Liverpool, but with effort beat Napoli. With three points they occupy the intermediate 19th spot.

2. Guiu returns, but Moreno is now out
Midfielder Pap Guiu did not play in the last match against Espanyol due to suspension, and now he must appear on the field from the start. The debut of 18‑year‑old Carlos Masia in the CL is postponed, although his entry as a substitute is not ruled out.
Forward Gerard Moreno was recently added to the starting lineup, but was quickly injured. Therefore, against PSG, Villarreal will probably play with one forward.

3. UEFA matches are very spectacular
On average, 5.33 goals are scored per match – only Barcelona (5.67), PSG and Liverpool (6.33) exceed this figure. Villarreal shows good goal‑scoring ability: they scored three goals in the matches against Liverpool and Napoli, and in the away game against Bursaspor they netted a brace. However, they also conceded the same number of goals. Seven of eight goals were scored in away stadiums, but at home they only faced Napoli – currently Napoli is a mediocre Serie A side, far from comparable to PSG.

PSG

1. The winning streak continues
After a difficult start, the team accelerated and now seems impossible to stop. Since 9 September, PSG has won six consecutive matches in Ligue 1 – thanks to this streak, they returned to their usual first place, although at the start of autumn they were 13th and 7 points behind the leader.
Simultaneously, we see a 100 % result in the Champions League. The home match against Slovan seemed like a warm‑up, but afterwards PSG beat Manchester City and Barcelona – at the time of the matches, both rivals were not losing points in either the CL or their domestic leagues. After three rounds, the Parisians lead the group stage table – they have the best goal difference.

2. Enrique, as always, outperforms the leaders
Before Villarreal, among the starting lineup players without rest only goalkeeper Matvey Safonov and defender Ashraf Hakimi remained – the Moroccan delivered a historic performance, with 3+2.
Most of the main players did not even leave the bench – among them defender Villian Pacho, midfielders Vitinha, João Neves and Fábio Ruiz, and also forward Desire Dué. But now they will all return to the lineup.

3. PSG – leader in CL performance
Six goals against Slovan were not surprising, but four goals in the matches against Man City and Barcelona are already significant. And each time PSG could score even more. 14 goals in three CL rounds – two more than any other club.
The Parisians have never played without scoring, and with the total number of goals conceded (5) they occupy only the tenth place – but who cares when opponents do not have even two goals to secure at least a draw? If PSG concedes first, that will not make them “float” either. For example, in the last league match, Gavà could score, but received five goals in response. We also recall the recent victory with willpower over Strasbourg (3:1) – here they scored three times after the 75th minute.

Prediction

Villarreal vs PSG 04.11.2026 00:00
Villarreal continues to launch in all directions. October could have ended with a three‑game winning streak – such a stretch did not exist since last year – but after two successful matches against weak opponents, the team gave in to Espanyol from the lower end of the table. In the CL, we see spectacular matches that also develop with variable success. Villarreal consistently scored two or three goals, but only managed to earn points in the home match against Napoli – all due to defensive lapses.

Rarely does anyone remember how difficult PSG’s start was. Now Enrique’s team destroys one rival after another, even when European giants are on their winning streak. The Parisians can afford to concede first or receive two goals – all that only increases the interest, so it is not so simple. In Spain, another high‑performance victory is announced.

Prediction: 1-3
