Sparta Prague – Bournemouth: Preview

We discuss the predictions for the Sparta Prague vs Bournemouth match in the context of the fourth round of the common phase of the 2026/27 Europa League.

"Bournemouth" accelerated and delivered a series of six victories. Now they head to the away match at "Sparta" that is praying.

Key points

Sparta Prague

1. Sparta has a win in six matches

There are problems even in their own stadium: with zero goals in two of the last three league matches, Sparta occupies only fourth place. They are eight points behind the leader Slavia. Additionally, last week the team was eliminated from the Czech Championship.

Europa League results are dropping. After the crushing win over Ararat Armenia (4:1), Sparta lost the home win against Lille (1:1) – the opponent escaped in the last minute. In the third round, the first defeat already occurred: the Czech side fell minimally to Olympiacos away, losing the only goal in the 78th minute. As a result, Sparta dropped to sixteenth in the overall table.

2. Priské will rotate

Sparta has played twice a week for a long time. This schedule forces regular changes in the squad. But Brian Priské tries to distribute the forces evenly, so we do not see a massive overhaul of the squad every three days: some of the main players are kept for league matches, others for European tournaments. After last weekend’s break, defenders Yaroslav Zeleny and Martin Suhmel, as well as midfielder Roman Macek, may appear at the start.

3. Sparta’s effectiveness dropped drastically

On 15 October the team scored against Lille, extending the goal streak to seven matches – in five of them Sparta scored at least two goals. In the same debut Europa League game we saw four goals. However, now Sparta often ends without goals – this happened in four of the last five matches. They only broke the streak with Slovaquko (5:1), one of the Czech league outsiders. Before and after that match, Sparta went without goals in two consecutive games. The drought against Bournemouth continues for almost 200 minutes. At some point they were unlucky, but it is unlikely the same can be said about the last Europa League match: against Olympiacos, Sparta had no goal moments and only one shot on target.

Bournemouth

1. Bournemouth won six consecutive matches

The team did not immediately adapt to Marco Rose’s requirements. For example, the first Premier League win had to wait until the seventh round (2:0 against Sunderland). However, even during the difficult adaptation, Bournemouth started successfully in the Europa League, earning three points at home against Sociedad (2:1).

In the second round the "cherries" eliminated Sturm (3:0), and that was when an impressive error-free period began. The section from 22 to 28 October was especially impressive: Bournemouth consecutively defeated Milan, Manchester United and Aston Villa with a 3:0 score – in three different competitions. They beat Leeds in the last match of the month (2:0), the team moved up to eighth place in the league. In the Europa League table Bournemouth occupies third place – only ahead of Bayern and Benfica.

2. Rose will also give a break to key players

Bournemouth has a schedule as dense as Sparta’s, and the priority is the EPL – that’s why the optimal squad is only seen in league matches. In October Europa League matches, rest was practically given to all core players. Some started on the bench in only one of the two matches, others in both. The most protected was winger Ryan – in total the Brazilian played less than 50 minutes. In the third round, Rose also changed the goalkeeper for the first time, Mikel Di Gregorio finally got practice not only in the League Cup.

3. Bournemouth stopped conceding

All matches within the current winning streak resulted in no goals. Although in the first eight matches of the season Bournemouth only kept Lincoln, and on 10 October they lost five goals against Chelsea, after the failure at St. James’s Park the team played without conceding six consecutive times. No goals were conceded in 560 minutes. In this stretch, Bournemouth allowed on average only two shots on target.

At the same time, we highlight the attacking effectiveness: by scoring matches without goals, Bournemouth consistently places 2-3 shots on opponents. In the Europa League, a total of eight goals were scored – the fifth figure in the tournament.

Forecast

Sparta Prague vs Bournemouth 05.11.2026 21:45

Sparta’s relegation phase continues. In the last six matches in all competitions, they only won once: they defeated the Czech league outsider Slovaquko. Even in the domestic league, the team is outside the top 3, the fight for the Czech Championship stopped in the round of 16. In the Europa League, Sparta is also declining. Since mid-October problems with effectiveness emerged: before, no-goal matches were rare, and now the Czechs could not score in four of the last five matches.

"Bournemouth" was on a long streak, but now they have stopped conceding – and at the same time maintain consistent performance with 2-3 goals. In summary, before the trip to Prague, we saw six consecutive no-goal victories. Four of them were great – the team also crushed Sturm and Milan in the LE. Probably, on Thursday Bournemouth will extend their successful streaks.

Prediction: 0-2
