Paris – Monaco: preview
We discuss the forecasts for the encounter between Paris and Monaco in the ninth round of the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season.
"Paris" has all the chances to achieve a historic advance this season. "Monaco" has slowed down, but still remains in the Champions League zone.
Key moments
Paris
1. "Paris" is ready for the advance, but still unstable.
With the appointment of Liam Rosnér as coach, the club’s management highlighted the increase in ambition. The previous year was spent adapting to Ligue 1; under the Englishman’s leadership, the team aims to enter European competitions. Rosnér has similar experience building a young squad at "Strasbourg", and so far he is doing well: "Paris" sits in sixth place. However, stability is still missing for the capital’s second team, which in recent matches alternates wins and losses. Yet the team has experience winning against strong rivals: they beat "Marseille" away (3:2) and "Rennes" at home (4:3).
2. Players have been lost, but they are not key pieces; Trapp returns.
"Paris" has been without one of France’s most promising left‑back defenders, Noa Sangi, and the national champion in the "Lille" squad, Jonathan Ikoné. Without them, the team already plays comfortably, and Liam Rosnér built a squad with the starting central defender Otaïvo Atide on the left side of the defense and the new arrival Pablo Paja in attack. There are squad problems on the right side of the defense: the participation of Ligue 1 veterans Amari Traoré and his slightly younger compatriot Adam Camara is doubtful. On the other hand, the main goalkeeper Kevin Trapp returns to the base.
3. Lassin Sinayoko in excellent form.
The standout player among Paris’s Mali squad plays in attack. During his time at "Oser", Sinayoko stood out as one of the most interesting forwards in the second half of the Ligue 1 table. He can play both as a striker and as a winger. Sinayoko’s departure was a matter of time, as he also shone in the last two African Nations Cups. Now, Lassin is the main figure in Paris’s attack: six goals and four assists. He can become the face of the capital club’s project in the short term.
Monaco
1. "Monaco" started strong, but slowed down.
After the first matches under Filipe Luís, it seemed that in France there was a force capable of challenging PSG. This was reflected both in the quality of the Monaco play and in the results, in particular, the away win over the Parisians (2:1). But then the hegemony had not yet found its form; "Monaco", on the contrary, was at its peak at the start of the season. Lately the Monégasque have slowed down, with varied results in different matches. Against "Toulouse" the team lost the advantage twice after the break. Against "Lorient" they failed to do anything against a massive defense (0:1). And the home match against "Lille" (1:1) showed that the team was not ready to play against an equal rival.
2. Fatí was injured again, Idumbo Mumba remains in the warehouse.
The main squad problems of the Monégasque concern the offensive wings. Stanis Idumbo Mumba stood out at the start of the season, but was injured. Among the numerous injuries, Ansu Fatí returns to the base. The glory of the Barcelona days is not there, but occasionally it looks good: he scored two goals in the Conference League. On the right wing the starting central midfielder Mamadu Kulibali was established. Eric Dayer remains in treatment, and without him, the central defender position is forced to be occupied by the right‑back profile, Jordan Tese.
3. "Monaco" has not had clean sheets in the league for a long time.
The suboptimal combination in defense affects the quality of play. "Monaco" tries to play dominant football, so Filipe Luís will take time to build the defense. In the first matches it seemed that the horror of the past was behind: the team had not conceded against "Gavre" or "Marseille". But these rivals now experience serious problems. In the last six league matches, the Monégasque have conceded goals. Only "Toulouse" managed to score more than one goal, but before the productive away match against "Paris" the streak does not inspire optimism.

Forecast
Paris vs Monaco 01.11.2026 20:15
"Paris" is preparing for the advance, but remains unstable: in the last four matches, Liam Rosnér’s team alternates wins and losses, but scores a lot at home. Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp returns to the base, there are squad problems on the defense wings, but they do not seem critical. Lassin Sinayoko is in excellent form: one of the best players in Ligue 1 outside PSG. "Paris" already has experience winning against strong rivals: "Marseille" and "Rennes".
"Monaco" started strong, but slowed down: they fell from first place and in the last three league encounters never won in different situations. There are squad difficulties on the offensive wings and in the center of defense without Eric Dayer. "Monaco" has conceded six consecutive matches, and it is unlikely they will play well defensively against the offensive "Paris". However, a home win against such a serious opponent is not expected.
Forecast: 1-1
