Copenhagen – Odense: preview
We discuss the expectations for the match between Copenhagen and Odense in the context of the twelfth round of the 2026/27 Danish league. The two teams face a match of great importance in the competition. Copenhagen risks losing the league leadership because Midtjylland is putting pressure on them, and Odense is only in seventh place according to additional indicators, which means participation in the "relegation zone".
Key points
Copenhagen
1. Copenhagen fails to regain its winning rhythm
After the recent international break, Copenhagen lost its former stability. While the league leader had a streak of seven consecutive wins during the three‑week break, in the next four matches across all competitions Copenhagen celebrated only one big win against Braga in the Conference League (3:0), and in the Superliga earned just one point in two games. Last Thursday, Bo Svensson’s players managed only a draw in the UEFA match against Red Star Belgrade (2:2), but the squad was far from optimal due to extensive rotation.
2. The selection of players for the starting XI becomes more varied
In the match against Red Star Belgrade, Mexican Rodrigo Vescas reached a milestone. Copenhagen’s right‑back, after 13 months of cruciate ligament injury, appeared for the first time in the starting lineup. Thus, only two rotation players remained on the bench: midfielder Magnus Madsen and winger Tapelo Maseko. Midfielder Mads Madsen, who recently recovered from a serious infectious disease, is regaining form and is preparing to play at the start of the next match. Additionally, Copenhagen’s summer newcomer, winger Maer Carrizo, who scored his first goal after moving from Ajax, will have the opportunity to reinforce the attack.
3. Copenhagen has not lost to Odense at home for over 20 years
The last negative match against Odense in the Danish league was played in 2003, and since then Copenhagen has won 18 and drawn 11 in the 29 subsequent encounters. In the series of 16 home matches against Odense in all competitions, Copenhagen’s statistics only improved: 14 wins and two draws. The first round ended with a decisive win: Copenhagen crushed Odense away 5:0.
Odense
1. Odense has not lost in five matches across all competitions
The humiliating defeat of Copenhagen at their stadium occurred recently, on 6 September. Since then Odense has not lost in five matches, achieving three wins and two draws. In particular, coach Thomas Thomassen earned points from Midtjylland (1:1), which competes with Copenhagen for the top spot in the table. In the last round, Odense beat Brøndby from fifth place (2:1), although the opponent generally played better, but was less fortunate in executing dangerous chances.
2. Odense’s squad will be close to optimal, but the participation of one of the main forwards is in doubt
The personnel situation at Odense can be described as relatively favorable. Defender Peter Terkeildsen, midfielder William Martin, and striker Jon Nemec have been absent for a while, but although they are healthy, they were considered rotation players. However, the fielding of forward Alexander Al-Holmström, with three goals and two assists, is the most effective in the team. He will be replaced by Finnish Topi Keskinen, who scored two goals in 13 matches.
3. Odense has shown good away results recently
The last away defeat for Odense was recorded in early August against Silkeborg (0:1). Since then, Thomassen’s team has played six official away matches, including two Danish Cup games, achieving three wins and three draws. However, in the Superliga Odense only secured one home win, against the mid‑table runners, and the trip to Parken is considered a special test for any club in the country.

Forecast
Copenhagen vs Odense 26.10.2026 21:00
Copenhagen, with the arrival of autumn, has been scoring victories, but the international break has weakened the Danish leader: only one point in the last two rounds, and they are also forced to compete in the Conference League, where things are a bit better.
Odense has not lost in six consecutive matches across all competitions, but their last defeat was not long ago, in the match against Copenhagen (0:5). If only league matches are considered, Odense has been accumulating points consistently and does not lose away in the last four encounters, but trips to Parken usually end in problems: 14 defeats and two draws in the last 16 home matches for Copenhagen.
Considering the rival’s tight schedule, Odense is expected to perform well at Copenhagen’s home, but will not manage to earn points. Forecast: 2-1
