OFI – Bayern 04: preview
We discuss the predictions for the OFI vs Bayern 04 match in the third round of the common phase of the Champions League 2026/27 season.
"Bayern" has not had problems in the early rounds of the CL. Now they will face OFI, which has stalled after a good start to the season.

1. OFI lost the three matches in October
The period before the national teams’ break turned out to be more than successful: OFI won the Greek Super Cup and suffered only one defeat in 11 matches across all competitions — still in summer they lost to "Aris" (0:1) in the league. In September the team made a brilliant entry into the Champions League, surprising "Hoffenheim" (2:0). Another surprise: the home win against "Olympiacos" in the Super League (1:0).
However, after the long break, a clear decline occurred. At home, OFI lost to AEK (0:3) and "Kalamata" (3:4), and between these they lost to "Rennes" in the second round of the CL (1:2) — the Greeks opened the score early, but in the end they failed to score points because of two goals in the last 15 minutes. The defeat in France was embarrassing but typical. Just look at the xG: 0.06 vs 1.46 in favour of "Rennes".
2. OFI could lose their starting goalkeeper
Nikos Christogeorgos suffered an unpleasant injury in the last league match — that’s why he couldn’t come on in the second half. The severity of the injury is still unknown, but it is very likely that in the match against "Bayern" the goal will be taken by the less experienced Lilo Klidman — the Albanian 23‑year‑old has never played in European competitions and has only played 16 matches in the senior category.
But there is good news: midfielder Iotour Kantapiedra should return to the team, as he rested on weekends due to a suspension in the Super League.
3. OFI is failing more and more in defence
Although recently they were not conceding almost 500 minutes of play. From 20 August to 17 September, the team accumulated eight "dry eggs" in nine matches. Not without luck, OFI kept "Hoffenheim", "Olympiacos" and PAOK. Now we see a totally different situation. OFI not only does not play 0‑0, as in the last four rounds they concede at least two goals — either from "Rennes" or from "Astera" in the second half of the Super League. In the last two rounds of the league they added seven goals — three more than in the first five combined matches.
Bayern 04
1. "Bayern" achieved five consecutive victories
The team made a couple of mistakes in the early rounds of the Bundesliga — in the first three matches they only managed one win and four points. However, after that "Bayern" won three consecutive matches, although all their opponents in that stage are now in the first seventh position. The same "pharmacists" occupy fourth place in the league, and the leaders are only one point behind.
At the same time, "Bayern" started confidently in the Champions League: after a routine home win over "Zelle" (2:0) they more calmly got rid of "Lec" abroad (4:0). With the maximum result, "Bayern" is in second place in the overall table, just above "Juventus", who scored one ball more.
2. In the CL Martínez makes rotations
But "Bayern" still cares about the result, so in both European matches we saw a mixed set: some key players of the team started from the beginning, the others joined during the match.
It is important that Martínez rotates the team due to the lack of personnel — because of the large number of injuries, a week ago there were only six available field players. In addition, "Bayern" did not call up midfielder Jonas Hofmann, who could have reinforced the team from the bench.
3. "Bayern" maintains a high level of performance
In every match of the season, the team always scores at least two goals — this continues for nine matches. Almost half the time "Bayern" scored even more. What is characteristic is that in away matches they act more effectively than at home: in three of four away games, they conceded four goals to opponents.
If we take the Champions League, by the total number of goals (6) they are only ahead of "Juventus" and "Besiktas" (both with 7). In addition, "Bayern" is one of the three clubs that have not yet conceded a goal. Besides the Germans, the list only includes "Omonia" and "Dinamo" Zagreb.

OFI has surprised several times before the national teams’ break: in the first 11 matches of the season they suffered only one defeat and achieved eight consecutive wins. The defeated opponents included "Hoffenheim", AEK and "Olympiacos". The team often played without conceding, although sometimes it required a good dose of luck. Now everything is different. After a three‑week break, OFI lost seriously: they have already lost three consecutive times, adding nine goals conceded — three more than in all August and September matches. At this critical moment, the Greeks will host the energetic "Bayern", who has achieved five consecutive victories. In every match of the season, the team scores at least two goals, and in away matches they usually exceed that figure. The first two rounds of the Champions League were won with a total score of 6:0. It is possible that "Bayern" will allow goals now, but that probably will not prevent them from getting another three points.
