Levant – Sevilla: preview
We discuss the predictions for the match between Levant and Sevilla in the eighth round of the Spanish league 2026/27. The eighth round of the Spanish league ended in Valencia, where Levant, which usually sits near the relegation zone, will try something against the well‑started Sevilla.
Key points
Levant
1. Levant is climbing the table
Levant, which lost only one match in the first four games of the new season in Spain, is rapidly approaching its usual position. The brilliant 5–2 win over Betis was followed by a 0–0 draw with the league’s worst team at that time, Málaga, and then losses with goals from Barcelona (2–4) and a modest Villarreal (1–3). The match against the Blaugrana, despite not scoring, was quite solid: the “toads” created seven goal opportunities. The game with the “yellow submarine”, on the other hand, was of lower quality and brought Levant back to its relegation zone.
2. Sotel and Young will not play, Ryan, de la Fuente, Olasaga and the offensive trio will help in the search for results
In the next match, Luis Castro will not have major squad problems. Among the players who will not be available are midfielder Hugo Sotel and the heavily injured Ette Young, who has lately done more harm than good. There are not many consistently effective players in the “toads” squad, but it is worth mentioning Matthew Ryan, Adrián de la Fuente, Hon Olasaga and the useful offensive trio of Thiago Fernández, Ivan Romero and Rojé Brugé. The good form of Ryan, de la Fuente and Olasaga will be very useful for the team, which traditionally has big problems in its own half of the field.
3. Levant has scored a lot against Sevilla lately
In each of the last four face‑to‑face meetings between Levant and Sevilla, the “toads” managed to score at least two goals. The influence of the stadium did not affect productivity, as goals were scored both at home and away, although the attack was enough to win only two of the four matches. Now that Ivan Romero and Rojé Brugé are in form, and the “red‑whites” have only conceded in two of seven games, extending the series is completely realistic.
Sevilla
1. Sevilla is satisfied with any score except 1–3
The Nervionenses, for the first time in a long time, seem like a fully functional team. In the seven matches, Sevilla achieved four wins and a draw, and the biggest lack of points occurred in the matches against Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona, both with the same score 1–3. For the “red‑whites”, who in the last three years finished with less than 10 points from the relegation zone, even a short period of success greatly boosts confidence. During the international break, the real loss was against Aston Villa in a friendly (again 1–3), but the overall impression remains satisfactory.
2. Marco can return, Stassin doubtful, Fofo and Sierra, Castín and Agúme in form
The visitors also potentially have two injured players, but with some exceptions. Defender Marco, who missed more than half a year, played a bit in the match against Aston Villa, and the rookie Lucas Stassin, who came out after the game with Deportivo, probably will not recover in time, although he showed excellent football immediately. The young winger Miguel Sierra quickly and effectively joins the team, Yusuf Fofo, loaned from Milan, is rediscovering himself in Spain, Andrés Castín leads the defense and also rejoices with Luyen Agúme. Together, there is a useful player in each line.
3. Sevilla does not have such brilliant performance
After two brilliant victories against Rayo Vallecano (2–1) and Athletic Bilbao (3–1), the Nervionenses’ attack became much less expressive and only managed five goal opportunities in five matches. On one hand, such a result can be attributed to opponents who adapted, among them the “matras” and the Blaugranas, as well as the local “Español”, and on the other hand, none of the last five matches created even a full xG point, although the mentioned greats cannot be called so successful in defense.

Prediction
Levant vs Sevilla 12.10.2026 23:00
Levant, after an interesting start, fell again. The last two matches of the “toads” were quite revealing: the owners can create a threat in the front, but often become reckless and inattentive in defense. Overall, they were again close to the relegation zone.
Sevilla started the season solidly. In official matches, the Nervionenses only lost to Atlético de Madrid (1–3) and Barcelona (1–3), and now they are in fifth place. The visitors, on the other hand, have a defense that works well, but after two good first matches, their attack has only scored five goals in the last five games in Spain.
The match should be fairly balanced. Levant, which often manages to play interestingly up front, will likely face problems in the last third, while the “red‑whites” can respond with counter‑attacks.
Prediction: 2–2
